Sun-shadow calculation software of Revit Architecture
Building Shadow Calculation
Release date May 19, 2008
Product name Building Shadow Calculation
Version Revit Architecture available

Building Shadow Calculation (BSC in brief) is the plug-in software for Revit Architecture.
When a building is designed, BSC is useful to examine the building volume study.

For the volume design, formally, the modeling data was exported to other CAD data form, such as DWG, and used to other analytical software after data form conversion. At every time when the model design changed, the data export and re-calculation was necessary, and it was time-consuming and troublesome works.

In this point, BSC preserves necessary parameters for the shadow calculation at each project file, and then, the re-calculation for model design of calculation condition change can be seamlessly done.
From the initial step of volume design by mass model to the last stage of sun shadow calculation, BSC can continuously refine the building model data.

BSC, in general, shows the calculation result, such as sunshine duration diagram, with two dimensional way.
Additionally, BSC can show the calculation result with three dimensional way, based on using the 3D function of Revit Architecture. On sun shine distribution diagram, sun shine hours are shown on the grid by coloring, and in case of sunshine curve command, sunshine hour lines are shown on the conical surface, which is composed of the point to sun direction. This function is useful to confirm which parts of buildings cause the shadow among object buildings.

It can be said that the various functions of BSC is the feature of this software, which applies the simulation to building volume study.

In this way, BSC is able to realize the simulation works, united with the characteristic of Revit Architecture.
